3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) leaves the scheduling of SIP request as an open choice for vendors in IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Initial filter criteria (IFC) is used to identify the target application server of the SIP requests. Over the time few limitations are identified in the working mechanism of IFC which in turn gives birth to the idea of service broker.
