Summary An oral stereognostic test was used to determine levels of oral perception in 42 dentulous and 48 complete denture subjects. The dentulous subjects were divided into two age groups: 20 to 31, and 51 to 72. The edentulous subjects were between the ages of 50 and 75. Three-dimensional test forms fabricated from base metal alloy were used under various test conditions to assess the subjects' ability to identify forms in the mouth.
