This study was designed to determine the association between oral hygiene status and necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis (NUG), as well as the severity of NUG in Nigerian children. The study cohort was made up of 438 children under 12 years attending the Dugbe Dental Centre in Ibadan, Nigeria. A dental history and intra-oral examination using probe and mirror were taken.
