PURPOSE Published literature on the pharmacokinetics and effectiveness of colistin loading doses is reviewed. SUMMARY Colistin is increasingly used to treat infections caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) gram-negative bacteria (GNB). A literature search identified seven reports on studies of colistin loading doses.
