This paper presents two optimized implementations of the emerging H.26L video decoder on Pentium III. The first version is implemented in C, while the second implementation makes use of MMX assembly instructions. Comparisons to a correspondingly optimized H.263/H.263+ decoder are given with fixed bit rate and temporal video quality and variable spatial video quality and complexity.
