Therapeutics used in pediatric rheumatology have evolved substantially over the past few decades; they currently target specific cytokines that are known to be involved in the pathophysiology of these complex diseases. The field is limited by a lack of full understanding of the etiology and pathophysiology of these conditions, as well as by the rarity of these diseases in the pediatric population.
