Sclerotia of Poria cocos Wolf (Polyporaceae), is an important Chinese crude drug in prescriptions for its diuretic, tonic and sedative effects since ancient times [1,2]. It has been the first recorded in “Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing” and now mainly cultivated in the warm and sub-tropical regions of Asia, such as China, Japan, Korea and India [3].
