We derive a tight upper bound for the fidelity of a universal N ! M qubit cloner, valid for any M $ N, where the output of the cloner is required to be supported on the symmetric subspace. Our proof is based on the concatenation of two cloners and the connection between quantum cloning and quantum state estimation. We generalize the operation of a quantum cloner to mixed and /or entangled input qubits described by a density matrix supported on the symmetric subspace of the constituent qubits…
Optimal probabilistic cloning and purification of quantum states
The examples reveal that the probabilistic cloner may yield higher fidelity than the best deterministic cloner even when the states that should be cloned are linearly dependent and are drawn from a continuous set.
Universal Optimal Cloning of Qubits and Quantum Registers
The machine which universally clones states of quantum objects in arbitrary-dimensional Hilbert spaces is presented, and universal cloning of quantum registers is discussed.
Quantum Chernoff bound as a measure of the efficiency of quantum cloning for mixed states
In this paper we investigate the efficiency of quantum cloning of N identical mixed qubits. We employ a recently introduced measure of distinguishability of quantum states called the quantum Chernoff
Realization Of Universal Quantum Cloning and of the Not Gate by Optical Parametric Amplification
An arbitrary quantum state cannot be “cloned” perfectly, that is, reproduced with “fidelity” F = 1 into M > 1 states identical to the original by any conceivable physical device. The main root of
Optical implementations of the optimal phase-covariant quantum cloning machine
We propose two simple implementations of the optimal symmetric 1{yields}2 phase-covariant cloning machine for qubits. The first scheme is designed for qubits encoded into polarization states of
Optimal asymptotic cloning machines
We pose the question whether the asymptotic equivalence between quantum cloning and quantum state estimation, valid at the single-clone level, still holds when all clones are examined globally. We
Cloning of Quantum Entanglement.
Results show that one maximally entangled photon pair can be broadcast into two entangled pairs, both with state fidelities above 50%.
Experimental reversion of the optimal quantum cloning and flipping processes
The quantum cloner machine maps an unknown arbitrary input qubit into two optimal clones and one optimal flipped qubit. By combining linear and nonlinear optical methods we experimentally implement a
Optimal quantum cloning and universal NOT without quantum gates
Abstract We present ways of realizing quantum cloning via stimulated emission. Universality of the cloning procedure is achieved by choosing systems that have appropriate symmetries. We first discuss
Quantum cloning of mixed states in symmetric subspaces
A quantum-cloning machine for arbitrary mixed states in symmetric subspaces and the shrinking factor of this quantum cloning achieves the well-known upper bound.
