The optical studies of high-temperature superconducting cuprates (HTSC) are reviewed, and Josephson plasmons and transverse Josephson plasma mode were experimentally discovered by optical measurements, and thus are unique to HTSC, reflecting the conducting nature of the stripe order.

Multilayer effects in Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+z superconductors

We discuss the characteristic features of triple CuO2 layer cuprate superconductors through comparisons with single and double layer ones. After a brief introduction to multilayer cuprates and their

Light-induced new collective modes in the superconductor La1.905Ba0.095CuO4

We report near and midinfrared pump, $c$-axis terahertz probe measurements on a superconducting single crystal ${\mathrm{La}}_{1.905}{\mathrm{Ba}}_{0.095}{\mathrm{CuO}}_{4}$ with ${T}_{c}=32$ K. The

Photoinduced metastable state with modulated Josephson coupling strengths in Pr0.88LaCe0.12CuO4

We report an intense near-infrared pump, $c$-axis terahertz probe measurement on an electron-doped cuprate superconductor ${\mathrm{Pr}}_{0.88}{\mathrm{LaCe}}_{0.12}{\mathrm{CuO}}_{4}$ with

c-axis optical response in the static stripe ordered phase of the cuprates.

The c-axis far-infrared reflectivity spectra in the superconducting state were investigated for La1.85-yNd(y)Sr0.15CuO4.15 and showed that the static stripe order pinned by the LTT distortion suppresses the interlayer phase coherence.

Electromagnetic response of static and fluctuating stripes in cuprate superconductors.

Neither superconductivity nor static stripe ordering has a noticeable effect on the depression of the scattering rate at omega<1000 cm(-1) characteristic of the pseudogap state in other classes of moderately doped cuprates.

Stripe states with spatially oscillating d-wave superconductivity in the two-dimensional t-t'-J model.

The interplay between stripes and d-wave superconductivity in the two-dimensional t-t'-J model is studied using a variational Monte Carlo method and it is found that stripes and spatially oscillatingsuperconductivity coexist depending on parameters.

Local magnetic order vs superconductivity in a layered cuprate

It is concluded that the transition temperature for local charge ordering decreases monotonically with x, and hence that local antiferromagnetic order is uniquely correlated with the anomalous depression of superconductivity at x approximately 1 / 8.

Josephson plasmon and inhomogeneous superconducting state in La2-xSrxCuO4.

An examination of the doping trends suggests that development of superconducting inhomogeneities is triggered by the formation of the unidirectional spin density wave state in La2-xSrxCuO4 at x=1/8.

Charge-4e superconductivity from pair-density-wave order in certain high-temperature superconductors

A number of spectacular experimental anomalies have been discovered recently in certain cuprates, notably La2−xBaxCuO4 and La1.6−xNd0.4SrxCuO4, which show unidirectional spin and charge order (known

Towards a two-dimensional superconducting state of La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO4 in a moderate external magnetic field.

It is found that the in-plane superconducting properties remain intact, in spite of enhanced magnetism in the planes.

Transverse josephson plasma mode in T* cuprate superconductors.

A transverse optical plasma mode is observed at far-infrared frequencies within the superconducting gap region by measuring the c-axis optical reflectivity for single crystals of T* cuprate
