is the goal of final fine adjustment. Repeatedly checking the ratio is time-consuming. If a hydrostatic bearing is used in the moving assembly in a rapid scanning interferometer, IR(∞) is difficult to evaluate, so the final fine adjustment is to maximize IR(O). The procedure described below is more instructive and also quickly provides excellent alignment if the additional parts are available.
