Optic ataxia is characterized by inaccuracies in body movements under visual control, and is a common consequence of damage to the posterior parietal lobes in humans. It is argued here that optic ataxia can be characterized as a deficit in the visual on-line guidance of actions, with action planning remaining relatively intact.
