The occ and noc regions of octopine and nopaline Ti plasmids in Agrobacterium tumefaciens are responsible for the catabolic utilization of octopine and nopaline, respectively. Opine-inducible promoters, genes for regulatory proteins and for catabolic enzymes, had been identified in previous work.
