Both sulfomucin-type intestinal metaplasia (ie, types II and III intestinal metaplasia, colonic-type intestinal metaplasia) and gastritis in Operative Link for Gastritis Assessment stages III and IV are associated with an increased risk of intestinal-type gastric cancer.
