We study the tachyon condensation of the ${\rm D}\bar{\rm D}$-brane system with a constant tachyon vev in the context of classical solutions of the Type II supergravity. We find that the general solution with the symmetry ISO(1, p)×SO(9-p) (the three-parameter solution) includes the extremal black p-brane solution as an appropriate limit of the solution by fixing one of the three parameters (c1). Furthermore, we compare the long distance behavior of the solution with the massless modes of the… Expand
EXCITED D-BRANES AND SUPERGRAVITY SOLUTIONS
We investigate the general solution with the symmetry ISO(1, p) × SO(9-p) of Type II supergravity (the three-parameter solution) from the viewpoint of the superstring theory. We find that one of theExpand
Non-SUSY p-branes, bubbles and tubular branes
We consider non-supersymmetric p-brane solutions of type II string theories characterized by three parameters. When the charge parameter vanishes and one of the other two takes a specific value, theExpand
Non-SUSY p-branes, bubbles and tubular branes
We consider non-supersymmetric p-brane solutions of type II string theories characterized by three parameters. When the charge parameter vanishes and one of the other two takes a specific value, theExpand
Tachyon Dynamics in Open String Theory
In this review we describe our current understanding of the properties of open string tachyons on an unstable D-brane or brane–antibrane system in string theory. The various string theoretic methodsExpand
MORE ON GENERAL p-BRANE SOLUTIONS
Recently it was found that the complete integration of the Einstein-dilaton-antisymmetric form equations depending on one variable and describing static singly charged p-branes leads to two and onlyExpand
M-theory branes: U-duality properties and a class of new static solutions
We obtain the most general static intersecting brane solutions by directly solving the relevant equations of motion analytically and in complete generality. These solutions reduce to the known onesExpand

Time dependent supergravity solutions in arbitrary dimensions
By directly solving the equations of motion we obtain the time dependent solutions of supergravities with dilaton and a q-form field strength in arbitrary dimensions. The metrics are assumed to haveExpand
Supergravity approach to tachyon condensation on the brane–anti-brane system
Abstract We study the tachyon condensation on the D-brane–anti-D-brane system from the supergravity point of view. The non-supersymmetric supergravity solutions with symmetry ISO ( p , 1 ) × SO ( 9 −Expand
Brane-antibrane systems at finite temperature and the entropy of black branes
We consider D-brane--anti-D-brane systems at T > 0. Starting at the closed string vacuum, we argue that a finite temperature leads to the reappearance of open string degrees of freedom. We also showExpand
Static, non-SUSY p-branes in diverse dimensions
We give explicit constructions of static, non-supersymmetric p-brane (for p• di 4, where d is the space-time dimensionality and including p = i1 or D-instanton) solutions of type II supergravities inExpand
Gravitational Approach to Tachyon Matter (超弦理論の展望)
The studies of dynamics of the tachyon on Dp — Dp brane system or unstable D-branes attract great interests since they gives the important non-perturb at ive and off-shell knowledge of string theory.Expand
Exact description of D-branes via tachyon condensation
We examine the fluctuations around a Dp-brane solution in an unstable D-brane system using boundary states and also boundary string field theory. We show that the fluctuations correctly reproduce theExpand
BPS Branes in Supergravity
This review considers the properties of classical solutions to supergravity theories with partially unbroken supersymmetry. These solutions saturate Bogomol’ny-Prasad-Sommerfield bounds on theirExpand
Is a classical description of stable non-BPS D-branes possible?☆
Abstract We study the classical geometry produced by a stack of stable (i.e., tachyon-free) non-BPS D-branes present in K3 compactifications of type II string theory. This classical representation isExpand
Supergravity Description of Non-BPS Branes
We construct supergravity solutions that correspond to N Dp-branes coinciding with N Dp-branes. We study the physical properties of the solutions and analyse the supergravity description of tachyonExpand
Closed string field theory with dynamical D-brane
We consider a closed string field theory with an arbitrary matter current as a source of the closed string field. We find that the source must satisfy a constraint equation as a consequence of theExpand
