A bstractWe consider type II string compactifications on Calabi-Yau orientifolds with fluxes and D-branes, and analyse the F-term scalar potential that simultaneously involves closed and open string modes. In type IIA models with D6-branes this potential can be directly computed by integrating out Minkowski three-forms. The result shows a multi-branched structure along the space of lifted open string moduli, in which discrete shifts in special Lagrangian and Wilson line deformations are…

Type IIA flux vacua with mobile D6-branes
A bstractWe analyse type IIA Calabi-Yau orientifolds with background fluxes and D6-branes. The presence of D6-brane deformation moduli redefines the 4d dilaton and complex structure fields and
Challenges for D-brane large-field inflation with stabilizer fields
A bstractWe study possible string theory compactifications which, in the low-energy limit, describe chaotic inflation with a stabilizer field. We first analyze type IIA setups where the inflationary
Moduli identification methods in Type II compactifications
A bstractRecent work on four dimensional effective descriptions of the heterotic string has identified the moduli of such systems as being given by kernels of maps between ordinary Dolbeault
Type IIA flux vacua with mobile D6-branes and α '-corrections
Type IIA flux compactifications have proven to be a rich framework to construct phenomenologically appealing string vacua. However, a better understanding of such a flux landscape in the presence of
Shift-symmetries and gauge coupling functions in orientifolds and F-theory
A bstractWe investigate the field dependence of the gauge coupling functions of four-dimensional Type IIB orientifold and F-theory compactifications with space-time filling seven-branes. In
The type IIA flux potential, 4-forms and Freed-Witten anomalies
A bstractWe compute the full classical 4d scalar potential of type IIA Calabi-Yau orientifolds in the presence of fluxes and D6-branes. We show that it can be written as a bilinear form V = ZABρAρB,
Type IIA flux vacua and α′-corrections
A bstractWe analyse type IIA Calabi-Yau orientifolds with background fluxes, taking into account the effect of perturbative α′-corrections. In particular, we consider the α′ corrections that modify
Field redefinitions and Kähler potential in string theory at 1-loop
A bstractField redefinitions at string 1-loop order are often required by supersymmetry, for instance in order to make the Kähler structure of the scalar kinetic terms manifest. We derive the general
Membranes in AdS4 orientifold vacua and their Weak Gravity Conjecture
We study type IIA orientifold compactifications with fluxes that give rise to perturbatively stable, non-supersymmetric AdS 4 vacua with D6-brane gauge sectors. Non-perturbative instabilities can be
Three-forms, dualities and membranes in four-dimensional supergravity
A bstractWe consider four-dimensional N=1$$ \mathcal{N}=1 $$ supergravity models of a kind appearing in string flux compactifications. It has been recently shown that, by using double three-form

D6-branes and axion monodromy inflation
A bstractWe develop new scenarios of large field inflation in type IIA string compactifications in which the key ingredient is a D6-brane that creates a potential for a B-field axion. The potential
Minkowski 3-forms, flux string vacua, axion stability and naturalness
A bstractWe discuss the role of Minkowski 3-forms in flux string vacua. In these vacua all internal closed string fluxes are in one to one correspondence with quantized Minkowski 4-forms. By
