Abstract New craniodental material of the traversodontid Dadadon isaloi from Middle/Upper Triassic basal “Isalo II” beds of southwestern Madagascar is described. These specimens reveal several new autapomorphies of Dadadon, including paired foramina on the frontal near the anterior border of the postorbital and lower incisors with denticulated distal margins. The new material covers a broad size range, providing the first information on ontogeny in Dadadon. Larger (presumably older) specimens… Expand
A New Late Triassic Traversodontid Cynodont (Therapsida, Eucynodontia) from India
TLDR
Phylogenetic analysis places Ruberodon within the clade containing Gomphodontosuchus, Menadon, Protuberum, Scalenodontoides, and the multispecific Exaeretodon, which forms a sister taxon to E. statisticae and is more advanced than E. riograndensis and E. argentinus. Expand
New information on the postcranial skeleton of Massetognathus ochagaviae Barberena, 1981 (Eucynodontia, Traversodontidae), from the Middle Triassic of Southern Brazil
Abstract New postcranial remains of Massetognathus ochagaviae are described based on a new specimen collected at the Dinodontosaurus Assemblage Zone from the Middle Triassic of Southern Brazil.Expand
A new gomphodont cynodont (Traversodontidae) from the Middle–Late Triassic Dinodontosaurus Assemblage Zone of the Santa Maria Supersequence, Brazil
The tetrapod faunas from the terrestrial Middle–Late Triassic basins of Africa and South America are among the richest in the world, especially in non-mammalian cynodonts. Despite the great abundanceExpand
The Malagasy Cynodont Menadon besairiei (Cynodontia; Traversodontidae) in the Middle—Upper Triassic of Brazil
ABSTRACT The traversodontid cynodont Menadon besairiei, previously known from the ‘Isalo II’ group of Madagascar, is reported for the first time from the Triassic of southern Brazil. New materialExpand
The African cynodont Aleodon (Cynodontia, Probainognathia) in the Triassic of southern Brazil and its biostratigraphic significance
TLDR
The first occurrence of the enigmatic African probainognathian genus Aleodon in the Middle-early Late Triassic of several localities from the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil is reported and a new species of Aleodon is proposed based on the specimens from Brazil. Expand
On the occurrence of the traversodontid Massetognathus ochagaviae (Synapsida, Cynodontia) in the early late Triassic Santacruzodon Assemblage Zone (Santa Maria Supersequence, southern Brazil): Taxonomic and biostratigraphic implications
Abstract The traversodontid cynodont Massetognathus ochagaviae is confirmed for the first time in the Santacruzodon Assemblage Zone (Carnian) of the Upper Santa Maria Supersequence of Brazil.Expand
A new traversodontid cynodont with a peculiar postcanine dentition from the Middle/Late Triassic of Namibia and dental evolution in basal gomphodonts
We here present a new gomphodont cynodont from the Ladinian/Carnian Upper Omingonde Formation of central Namibia. Etjoia dentitransitus gen. et sp. nov. is a medium-sized (skull length of 88.5 mm)Expand
Cranial Ontogeny of the Early Triassic Basal Cynodont Galesaurus planiceps
TLDR
The development of the adductor musculature appears to be one of the main factors influencing skull growth in these basal non‐mammaliaform cynodonts. Expand
Osteohistology of the non-mammaliaform traversodontids Protuberum cabralense and Exaeretodon riograndensis from southern Brazil
TLDR
The early rapid, sustained growth observed in these taxa is similar to that seen in other traversodontids, and may be related to the achievement of large body size in the derived members of the clade. Expand
Virtual reconstruction of cranial endocasts of traversodontid cynodonts (Eucynodontia: Gomphodontia) from the upper Triassic of Southern Brazil
TLDR
The brain endocasts of the late Triassic traversodontids Siriusgnathus niemeyerorum and Exaeretodon riograndensis from southern Brazil are described based on virtual models generated using computed tomography scan data, showing an endocranial cavity that is not fully ossified. Expand

Anatomy and Phylogenetic Relationships of Boreogomphodon jeffersoni (Cynodontia: Gomphodontia) from the Upper Triassic of Virginia
TLDR
Phylogenetic analysis suggests the existence of a clade comprising Boreogomphodon plus two other taxa in the Northern Hemisphere that is the sister group to most other known Middle and Late Triassic traversodonts from Gondwana. Expand
A new species of the traversodontid cynodont Exaeretodon from the Santa Maria Formation (Middle/Late Triassic) of southern Brazil
TLDR
The presence of prootic crests in the extensive lateral flange, anterior to the fenestra ovalis, is a noteworthy basicranial trait, unique to this new taxon among non-mammalian cynodonts. Expand
A new traversodontid cynodont from the Santa Maria Formation (Ladinian-Carnian) of southern Brazil, with a phylogenetic analysis of Gondwanan traversodontids
TLDR
A phylogenetic analysis of traversodontids from Gondwana revealed a nonmonophyletic relationship for Scalenodon‘species’ from the Anisian Manda beds, and morphological trends of change in the dentition of traversdontids throughout the Triassic are suggested. Expand

TLDR
A new trirachodontid cynodont is described from the base of the Burgersdorp Formation (Subzone A fauna of the Cynognathus Assemblage Zone), of the South African Karoo Basin and is characterized by circular to ovoid in outline upper postcanines and the absence of a maxillary platform lateral to the postcanine series.
