In this work, a facile and inexpensive one-step sonochemistry irradiation method was developed for the fabrication of SiO2 nanoparticles functionalized with octadecyltrimethoxysilane and their in situ incorporation into cotton fabrics. The double sides of as-prepared fabrics show both superhydrophobic and superoleophilic properties simultaneously with a high water contact angle of 159 ± 1° and an oil contact angle of 0°. Thus, it can be used to separate and capture a series of oils from water…

Superhydrophobic Fabrics for Oil/Water Separation Based on the Metal-Organic Charge-Transfer Complex CuTCNAQ.
TLDR
It is found that the fabric can separate dichloromethane, olive oil, and crude oil from water, and reduce the water content of the oil during the separation process, and investigate for its ability to separate oil and water in two modes, namely through filtration and as an absorbent material.
Facile fabrication of superhydrophobic SiO2-coated mesh used for corrosive and hot water/oil separation
Oil pollution has been a worldwide problem. Most of the superhydrophobic materials lose their superhydrophobicity when exposed to hot water (e.g., >50 °C) and strong corrosive liquids. Herein, we
One-step electrodeposition to fabricate superhydrophobic coating and its reversible wettability transformation
A one-step electrodeposition method was used to fabricate coatings with switchable wettability on stainless steel meshes to extend the application of materials in intelligent material industry. This
A facile one-step spray-coating process for the fabrication of a superhydrophobic attapulgite coated mesh for use in oil/water separation
Oil/water separation is a worldwide problem due to the increasing emission of industrial oily waste water and the frequent oil spill accidents. Herein, we demonstrate, for the first time,

Robust and durable superhydrophobic cotton fabrics for oil/water separation.
TLDR
By introducing the incorporation of polyaniline and fluorinated alkyl silane to the cotton fabric via a facile vapor phase deposition process, the fabric surface possessed superhydrophobicity and high separation efficiency under extreme environment conditions of high temperature, high humidity, strong acidic or alkaline solutions, and mechanical forces.
In situ polymerized superhydrophobic and superoleophilic nanofibrous membranes for gravity driven oil-water separation.
TLDR
The as-prepared membranes exhibited fast and efficient separation of oil-water mixtures by a solely gravity driven process, which makes them good candidates for industrial oil-polluted water treatments and oil spill cleanup, and also provided new insights into the design and development of functional nanofibrous membranes through F-PBZ modification.

TLDR
It has been demonstrated that the efficient control of the nucleation and growth of Group VIII and IB nanocrystals on the porous surfaces becomes the key factor in the formation of multiscale surface roughness, resulting in the achievement of controllable special wettability.
