In the framework of 10-dimensional Friedmann-Calabi-Yau cosmology of superstring origin, we show that the time variation of either Newton’s gravitational constant or Yang-Mills one is unavoidable in the present epoch.

Variations in the Gravitational Constant in General Theories of Gravitation

A class of multidimensional theories is identified in which the spatial and temporal variations in the gravitational constant and the fine structure constant have a common origin and are of the same

Heterotic string.

A new type of superstring theory is constructed as a chiral combination of the closed D=26 bosonic and D=10 fermionic strings. The theory is supersymmetric, Lorentz invariant, and free of tachyons.

Time variation of Newton's gravitational constant in superstring theories.

The present time variation of coupling constants in superstring theories with currently favorable internal backgrounds critically depends on the shape of the potential for the size of internal space.

Time Variation of the Fundamental "Constants" and Kaluza-Klein Theories

Time dependence of the fundamental ''constants'' is examined within the framework of Kaluza-Klein theories. Relationships among low-energy couplings and masses are derived. It is suggested that

Variations in the Fine Structure Constant and Multidimensional Gravitation

A brief review of theoretical models explaining the variation in the fine structure constant α in space and time is given. A method is described for constructing models in which variations in α and

Variations of α and G from nonlinear multidimensional gravity

To explain the recently reported large-scale spatial variations of the fine structure constant α, we apply some models of curvature-nonlinear multidimensional gravity. Under the reasonable assumption
