Autapomorphic and some other morphological characters of percoid fish of the family Asianthidae from the terminal Late Paleocene of Turkmenia are discussed and illustrated. The family Asianthidae and all taxa included in it are recognized as valid. The views of Bannikov and Carnevale (2007) on the volume and status of this group are shown to be inconsistent.
