Abstract In this paper, we present a consistent spatial formulation for discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods applied to solid mechanics problems with finite deformation. This spatial formulation provides a general, accurate, and efficient DG finite element computational framework for modeling nonlinear solid mechanics problems.
