An annotated checklist of the terrestrial mammals of Los Angeles County was compiled, based on over 10,000 museum records spanning over 100 years of scientific research, providing an annotated list and abbreviated synonymies for 46 species of terrestrial mammals in the orders Eulipotyphla, Carnivora, Artiodactyla, and Chiroptera.

GPS Tracking of Free-Roaming Cats (Felis catus) on SARS-CoV-2-Infected Mink Farms in Utah

F feral cats living on or near several mink farms in Utah made frequent visits to mink sheds, moved freely around the affected farms, and visited surrounding residential properties and neighborhoods on multiple occasions, making them potential low risk vectors of additional SARS-CoV-2 spread in local communities.

Tracking the decline of weasels in North America

The hypothesis that weasel populations have declined in North America is supported and the need for improved methods for detecting and monitoring weasels is highlighted, by identifying population declines for small carnivores that were formerly abundant across North America.

Setting the Terms for Zoonotic Diseases: Effective Communication for Research, Conservation, and Public Policy

While focusing on terms specific to bats and disease ecology, this work presents a more general framework for addressing miscommunication that can be applied to other topics and disciplines to facilitate more effective research, problem-solving, and public policy.

Evolutionary history of Carnivora (Mammalia, Laurasiatheria) inferred from mitochondrial genomes

The complete mitochondrial genomes were analysed to reconstruct the phylogenetic relationships and to estimate divergence times among species of Carnivora, leading to a robust resolution of suprafamilial and intrafamilial relationships.

The usage of subgenera in mammalian taxonomy

The advantages of the usage of subgenera as a practical taxonomic rank in mammalian taxonomy are discussed, which preserves traditional usage, reduces nomenclatural instability and avoids unnecessary change of names.

A New Species of Weasel (Mustela) from the Highlands of Colombia, with Comments on the Evolution and Distribution of South American Weasels

A new species of Mustela , subgenus Grammogale , is described. It is characterized by dark, uniform dorsal coloration, reduced anterior premolars, and a wide mesopterygoid fossa. a range extension is

Index Generum Mammalium: A List of the Genera and Families of Mammals

This report consists of an annotated list of the generic names of mammals, arranged by orders and families, and an alphabetical lists of the families of mammals.

Shared extremes by ectotherms and endotherms: Body elongation in mustelids is associated with small size and reduced limbs

The relationship between body elongation and forelimb length has not previously been quantitatively established for mammals but is consistent with trends exhibited by ectothermic vertebrates and suggests a common pattern of trait covariance associated with body shape evolution.

Systematics of Mustelid-Like Carnivores

The phylogenetic relationships of the skunks to the Mustelidae and other caniform carnivores were examined using mitochondrial-DNA sequence data from portions of the 12S and 16S ribosomal RNA genes and morphological data obtained from the literature were used in a total-evidence analysis.
