We investigate the existence of black hole and soliton solutions to four dimensional, anti-de Sitter (adS), Einstein–Yang–Mills theories with general semisimple connected and simply connected gauge groups, concentrating on the so-called regular case. We here generalise results for the asymptotically flat case, and compare our system with similar results from the well-researched adS $${\mathfrak {su}}(N)$$su(N) system. We find the analysis differs from the asymptotically flat case in some…

On the existence of topological dyons and dyonic black holes in anti-de Sitter Einstein-Yang-Mills theories with compact semisimple gauge groups
Here we study the global existence of `hairy' dyonic black hole and dyon solutions to four dimensional, anti-de Sitter Einstein-Yang-Mills theories for a general simply-connected and semisimple gauge
Large Gauge Transformations and Black Hole Entropy
Diffeomorphisms in general relativity can act non-trivially on the boundary of spacetimes. Of particular importance are the BMS group of transformations, originally found by Bondi, Metzner, van der
Kerr-Newman Black Hole Entropy and Soft Hair
Recently a set of diffeomorphisms were found which act nontrivially on the Kerr horizon and form a left-right pair of Virasoro algebras. Using the boundary formula for the associated central charge
Black hole entropy and soft hair
A bstractA set of infinitesimal Virasoro L ⊗ Virasoro R diffeomorphisms are presented which act non-trivially on the horizon of a generic Kerr black hole with spin J. The covariant phase space
Supertranslation hair of Schwarzschild black hole: a Wilson line perspective
We demonstrate within the quantum field theoretical framework that an asymptotic particle falling into the black hole implants soft graviton hair on the horizon, conforming with the classical

Black holes with scalar hair and asymptotics in N = 8 supergravity
We consider = 8 gauged supergravity in D = 4 and D = 5. We show one can weaken the boundary conditions on the metric and on all scalars with m2 < − (D − 1)2/4 + 1 while preserving the asymptotic
