The five Nordic species of the genus Urytalpa Edwards (Diptera: Keroplatidae) are revised, of which one species, Urytalpa galdes Hedmark & Kjaerandsen, sp. n., is described as new to science based on males collected in northern Sweden. We find that the original type species assignment for Urytalpa (Platyura ochracea Meigen, 1818) is based on a misidentification, and in order to stabilize the nomenclature we therefore select a new type species, Urytalpa dorsalis (Staeger, 1840), sp. restit. Additions to the list of Finnish Bibionomorpha (Diptera, Nematocera)

A total of 12 gnat species are reported for the first time from Finland, mainly from the north boreal ecoregion, and two of the recorded species are likely to be pyrophilous, associated with forest fire sites.

New taxonomic and faunistic records of fungus gnats (Insecta, Diptera) from Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia

A mycetophilid species, Trichonta comis Gagné, 1981, is redescribed and a key is provided for the separation of European Boletina trivittata (Meigen, 1818)-group species.

Recent noteworthy findings of fungus gnats from Finland and northwestern Russia (Diptera: Ditomyiidae, Keroplatidae, Bolitophilidae and Mycetophilidae)

New faunistic data on fungus gnats from Finland and NW Russia (Karelia and Murmansk Region) are presented, with a total of 64 species reported for the first time form Finland and Russian Karelia.

New and interesting records of Bibionomorpha (Diptera) from the Czech and Slovak Republics / Nové a zajímavé nálezy druhů z infrařádu Bibionomorpha (Diptera) pro území České a Slovenské republiky.

Three species are new to the Czech Republic, 1 to Bohemia, 3 to Moravia & Silesia and 10 to Slovakia, and several additional rare species are also recorded although they do not represent additions to the local faunas.

Hidden in Plain Sight: Comprehensive Molecular Phylogeny of Keroplatidae and Lygistorrhinidae (Diptera) Reveals Parallel Evolution and Leads to a Revised Family Classification

The first molecular phylogeny of Keroplatidae and Lygistorrhinidae, families of fungus gnats, is provided, finding support for an alternative tribe corresponding to the Cloeophoromyia–Asindulum genus group, but a tribal reclassification of the Keriplatinae is left for future studies.

The fungus gnat fauna of Sardinia is reviewed and data presented for all species recorded, with four species of Keroplatidae and 19 species of Mycetophilidae are new to the total Italian fauna.
