Mixed-layer theory is used to study the diurnal cycle of the stratocumulus-topped boundary layer and its susceptibility to perturbations in atmospheric aerosol concentration. Our results show that the diurnal evolution of cloud thickness is sensitive to the entrainment efficiency.
