The effect of the beta-lactone antibiotic diffusomycin (oxazolomycin) was investigated against vaccinia (Lister), herpes simplex type 1 (Kupka), influenza A (WSN; H1N1), and Coxsackie A9 viruses. Diffusomycin reduced significantly the plaque formation of enveloped DNA and RNA viruses by more than 90% in the range of the maximally tolerated dose. As could be shown with vaccinia virus, the antiviral action was not caused by virucidal effect on virions or by interaction with virus adsorption and… Expand
The oxazolomycin family: a review of current knowledge
Oxazolomycin A and neooxazolomycin were firstly isolated in 1985 by the group of Uemura et al. from the Streptomyces sp. bacteria. To date, there have been reported 15 different natural compoundsExpand
On the antibiotic activity of oxazolomycin.
Structural analysis of oxazolomycin and simpler fragments containing a common 3-hydroxy-2,2-dimethylpropanamide moiety has indicated that a U-shaped conformation is preferred, in some casesExpand
Total synthesis of oxazolomycins.
The oxazolomycin family of antibiotics, isolated from several Streptomyces strains, are intriguing molecules for synthesis due to their characteristic oxazole polyene lactam-lactone structures andExpand
Novel triene-beta-lactone antibiotics, oxazolomycin derivative and its isomer, produced by Streptomyces sp. KSM-2690.
In the course of the screening for novel antibacterial antibiotics produced by microorganisms, a strain termed KSM-2690 was found to produce a new complex of triene/3-lactone antibiotics in the culture filtrate, indicating that these new compounds are members of the triene-/ 3- lactone group of antibiotics. Discrete acyltransferases involved in polyketide biosynthesis
A summary of information gained from experimental studies on discrete ATs involved in polyketide biosynthesis until the end of 2011 is provided, which represents a novel mechanism of incorporation of branched structures into polyketides. Expand
Oxetane-containing metabolites: origin, structures, and biological activities
The biological activity of OCC that is produced by bacteria and Actinomycetes demonstrates antineoplastic, antiviral, and antifungal activity with confidence an angiogenesis stimulator, respiratory analeptic, and antiallergic activity. Expand
A synthesis of a common intermediate to the lactone–pyrrolidinone ring systems in oxazolomycin A and neooxazolomycin
Abstract A 5- exo -dig radical cyclisation of the bromoamide 34 derived from the enantiopure α-ethynyl substituted amino alcohol 31 led to a 2:1 mixture of β-C3 and α-C3 methyl epimers of theExpand
Whole genome sequence of Pantoea ananatis R100, an antagonistic bacterium isolated from rice seed.
The genome sequence of R100 may shed a light on the research of antagonism P. ananatis, a group of bacteria, which was first reported as plant pathogen, and determined by SMRT Cell technology. Expand
Synthesis and in vitro cytotoxic evaluation of spiro-β-lactone-γ-lactam scaffolds
Abstract A successful approach to the construction of spiro-β-lactone-γ-lactam synthons 5 and ent-5 as a similar structural motif present in natural products such as oxazolomycins was developed. TwoExpand
The syntheses of rac-inthomycin A, (+)-inthomycin B and (+)-inthomycin C using a unified synthetic approach
The Stille coupling between a common oxazole vinyl iodide and stereodefined stannyl-diene units is described as the cornerstone of a unified synthetic route to the inthomycin family of bioactiveExpand
