Abstract An exact calculation of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon to second order in the fine structure constant is given. The uncertainties which limit the possible precision in testing quantum electrodynamics with this effect are also discussed.

THE ANOMALOUS MAGNETIC MOMENT OF THE MUON
In this article theoretical calculations and measurements of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon (aμ) are presented. First muon anomalous magnetic moment is defined. Then the Standard model
The sixth order radiative correction to the difference of the anomalous magnetic moments of muon and electron
Abstract We report here the completion of the calculation of the sixth order contribution to the difference of the anomalous magnetic moments of muon and electron. The new theoretical value for the
THE ANOMALOUS MAGNETIC MOMENT OF THE MUON AND RELATED TOPICS
The anomalous magnetic moment of the muon has been measured in three CERN experiments with increasing precisions, from 1959 to 1977. In this article the theoretical and experimental results are
The muon anomalous magnetic moment in QED: three-loop electron and tau contributions
Abstract We present an analytic calculation of electron and tau O (α 3 ) loop effects on the muon anomalous magnetic moment. Computation of such three-loop diagrams with three mass scales is possible
The Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment
A brief review is given of the experimental and theoretical status of the muon g-2 factor. The theoretical motivation for an improved determination of g-2 is presented, and a new AGS experiment under
Inappropriateness of the anomalous magnetic moment as a test of quantum electrodynamics
Abstract The anomalous magnetic moment of the electron or of the muon may not be appropriate as a test of quantum electrodynamics because of possible cancellation of different terms with opposite
Anomalous magnetic moment with heavy virtual leptons
Abstract We compute the contributions to the electron and muon anomalous magnetic moment induced by heavy leptons up to four-loop order. Asymptotic expansion is applied to obtain three analytic
Electron, muon and tau magnetic moments: a theoretical update
Recent Standard Model predictions for the anomalous magnetic moments of the electron, muon and τ lepton are reviewed and compared to the latest experimental values.
Some historical aspects concerning the rise ofthe first exact measurements of the anomalousmagnetic moment of the muon
In this paper, we wish to outline the main historical moments which have led to the first exact measurements of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.
The standard model prediction of the muon anomalous magnetic moment
This paper reviews and updates the standard model prediction of the muon g-2. QED, electroweak and hadronic contributions are presented, and open questions discussed. The theoretical prediction

Fourth-Order Corrections in Quantum Electrodynamics and the Magnetic Moment of the Electron
The covariant S matrix formalism of Dyson has been applied to the calculation of the fourth-order radiative correction to the magnetic moment of the electron. Intermediate results for the covariant
A New Measurement of the Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon
By analysis of the precession of polarized mu mesons in a 16-kOe magnetic field, the anomalous magnetic moment of the mu meson is measured as (1162 plus or minus 5) x 10/sup -6/. The results, within
On regge poles in quantum electrodynamics
SummaryIn this article we examine the question to what extent an explicit treatment of the photon, the electron and the muon as Regge poles (in the technical sense of not being connected with
Our Knowledge of the Fundamental Constants of Physics and Chemistry in 1965
