We investigate the Lagrangian formulation of the double-copy correspondence between gauge theories and gravity, up to the cubic order. Building on the definition of the double-copy field as a convolution of two vectors, we obtain free gravitational Lagrangians as products of two Yang-Mills Lagrangians, in a form amenable to be easily extended to the massive case. We discuss the origin of these results from tensionless strings and show the existence of gauge fixings that mix the two spin-one…
Double copy for Lagrangians at trilinear order
Abstract We present a novel double-copy prescription for gauge fields at the Lagrangian level and apply it to the original double copy, couplings to matter and the soft theorem. The Yang-Mills
Solutions in Nonlinear Electrodynamics and their double copy regular black holes
: We study solutions in non-linear electrodynamics (NED) and establish several general results. We show, that the SO (2) electric-magnetic duality symmetry is restrictive enough to allow for
The gauge structure of double field theory follows from Yang-Mills theory
We show that to cubic order double field theory is encoded in Yang-Mills theory. To this end we use algebraic structures from string field theory as follows: The L ∞ -algebra of Yang-Mills theory is
Cotton double copy for gravitational waves
We construct a double copy relation between the Cotton spinor and the dual field strength spinor of topologically massive theories, as the three-dimensional analogue of the Weyl double copy. The
Off-shell color-kinematics duality for Chern-Simons
Abstract Many gauge theories possess a hidden duality between color and kinematics in their on-shell scattering amplitudes. An open problem is to formulate an off-shell realization of the duality,
Massive double copy in the high-energy limit
Abstract The exploration of the massive double copy is still in its infancy, and only a few examples in limited contexts are known. In this paper, we analyze the newly discovered double copy for
Planar solutions of higher-spin theory. Nonlinear corrections
Leading order higher-spin corrections to the linearized higher-spin black brane are analyzed in four dimensions. It is shown that the static solution that respects planar symmetry exists in the
The off-shell recursion for gravity and the classical double copy for currents
We construct the off-shell recursion for gravity and the graviton current for the perturbative double field theory (DFT). We first formulate the perturbative DFT, which is equivalent but simpler to
Double field theory as the double copy of Yang-Mills theory
We show that double field theory arises from the color-kinematic double copy of Yang-Mills theory. A precise double copy prescription for the Yang-Mills action at quadratic and cubic order is
NS-NS Spacetimes from Amplitudes
Recent work has shown how on-shell three-point amplitudes in gauge theory and gravity, representing the coupling to massive particles, correspond in the classical limit to the curvature spinors of

The classical double copy of a point charge
The classical double copy relates solutions to the equations of motion in gauge theory and in gravity. In this paper, we present two double-copy formalisms for relating the Coulomb solution in gauge
Massive gravity from double copy
We consider the double copy of massive Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions, whose decoupling limit is a nonlinear sigma model. The latter may be regarded as the leading terms in the low energy
Type D spacetimes and the Weyl double copy
We study the double-copy relation between classical solutions in gauge theory and gravity, focusing on four-dimensional vacuum metrics of algebraic type D, a class that includes several important
Effective action of dilaton gravity as the classical double copy of Yang-Mills theory
We compute the classical effective action of color charges moving along worldlines by integrating out the Yang-Mills gauge field to next-to-leading order in the coupling. An adapted version of the
Classical gluon and graviton radiation from the bi-adjoint scalar double copy
We find double-copy relations between classical radiating solutions in Yang-Mills theory coupled to dynamical color charges and their counterparts in a cubic bi-adjoint scalar field theory which
Gravity as the Square of Gauge Theory
We explore consequences of the recently discovered duality between color and kinematics, which states that kinematic numerators in a diagrammatic expansion of gauge-theory amplitudes can be arranged
Gravitational radiation from the classical spinning double copy
We establish a correspondence between perturbative classical gluon and gravitational radiation emitted by spinning sources, to linear order in spin. This is an extension of the non-spinning classical
The Kerr-Schild double copy in curved spacetime
A bstractThe double copy is a much-studied relationship between scattering amplitudes in gauge and gravity theories, that has subsequently been extended to classical field solutions. In nearly all
Constraints on a massive double-copy and applications to massive gravity
We propose and study a BCJ double-copy of massive particles, showing that it is equivalent to a KLT formula with a kernel given by the inverse of a matrix of massive bi-adjoint scalar amplitudes. For
