Motivated by the stringent reliability required by some of the future cellular use cases, we study the impact of precoding errors on the SINR outage performance for various spatial diversity techniques. The performance evaluation is carried out via system-level simulations, including the effects of multi-user and multi-cell interference, and following the 3GPP-defined simulation assumptions for a traditional macro case. It is shown that, except for feedback error probabilities larger than 1…

Real-time measurements and performance analysis of closed-loop MIMO service for mobile operators

This paper compares different multiantenna transmission modes namely: transmit diversity, open-loop (OL), and CL MIMO spatial multiplexing strategies to provide mobile network operator (MNO) services in terms of their characteristics, ,limitations and benefits, and investigates how launching a large-scale CL M IMO deployment strategy can affect the various key performance indicators (KPIs) of the existing services provided by MNOs in real-operational network infrastructure in Turkey.

Joint Link Adaptation and Scheduling for 5G Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications

A joint link adaptation and resource allocation policy is proposed that dynamically adjusts the block error probability of URLLC small payload transmissions in accordance with the instantaneous experienced load per cell as well as what conditions are more appropriate for dynamic multiplexing of UR LLC and eMBB traffic in the upcoming 5G systems.

Signal Quality Outage Analysis for Ultra-Reliable Communications in Cellular Networks

The analysis shows that traditional microscopic multiple-input multiple-output schemes with 2×2 or 4×4 antenna configurations are not enough to fulfil stringent reliability requirements, and how such antenna schemes must be complemented with macroscopic diversity as well as interference management techniques in order to ensure the necessary SINR outage performance.

Influence of CSI Feedback Errors on Capacity of Linear Multi-User MIMO Systems

This paper evaluates two basic error mitigation approaches: the first one with user expurgation using error-detection codes and the second one, based on specially designed VQ indexing, which are very robust to even relatively high bit error rates in the feedback link.

On the utility of macro- and microdiversity for achieving high availability in wireless networks

This paper analyzes an elementary multi-connectivity solution, which utilizes macro- as well as microdiversity, and evaluates trade-offs between power consumption, link usage, and outage probability, and derives analytical models for the outage probability.

Diversity-multiplexing tradeoff in multiple-access channels

The results characterize the fundamental tradeoff between the three types of gain and provide insights on the capabilities of multiple antennas in a network context.

Poisoned feedback: The impact of malicious users in closed-loop multiuser mimo systems

This paper considers the impact of deliberately inaccurate feedback by malicious users in a multiuser multicast system and demonstrates the significant degradation in performance of closed-loop transmission schemes due to intentional feedback of false CSI by adversarial users.
