We extend the calculations of holographic entanglement entropy in AdS4 for entangling curves with singular non‐smooth points that generalize cusps. Our calculations are based on minimal surfaces that correspond to elliptic solutions of the corresponding Pohlmeyer reduced system. For these minimal surfaces, the entangling curve contains singular points that are not cusps, but the joint point of two logarithmic spirals one being the rotation of the other by a given angle δφ . It turns out that…

Holographic entanglement entropy for perturbative higher-curvature gravities

The holographic entanglement entropy functional for higher-curvature gravities involves a weighted sum whose evaluation, beyond quadratic order, requires a complicated theory-dependent splitting of

Generalizing the entanglement entropy of singular regions in conformal field theories

It is shown that the mutual information of two regions that touch at a point is not necessarily divergent, as long as the contact is through a sufficiently sharp corner, and the angle dependence for the entanglement entropy of wedge singularities in 3+1 dimensions is studied.

On a new type of divergence for spiky Wilson loops and related entanglement entropies

A bstractWe study the divergences of Wilson loops for a contour with a cusp of zero opening angle, combined with a nonzero discontinuity of its curvature. The analysis is performed in lowest order,

Geometric flow description of minimal surfaces

We introduce a description of a minimal surface in a space with boundary, as the world hypersurface that the entangling surface traces. It does so by evolving from the boundary to the interior of the

Corner contributions to holographic entanglement entropy

A bstractThe entanglement entropy of three-dimensional conformal field theories contains a universal contribution coming from corners in the entangling surface. We study these contributions in a

Universal entanglement for higher dimensional cones

A generalized coefficient σ(d) is defined to characterize the almost smooth limit of a (hyper)conical singularity in entangling surfaces in higher dimensions and it is shown that this coefficient is universally related to CT for general holographic theories and provided a general formula for the ratio ρ(d)/CT in arbitrary dimensions.

Holographic c-theorems in arbitrary dimensions

We re-examine holographic versions of the c-theorem and entanglement entropy in the context of higher curvature gravity and the AdS/CFT correspondence. We select the gravity theories by tuning the

Universality of Corner Entanglement in Conformal Field Theories.

It is shown that the ratio a(θ)/C(T), where C(T) is the central charge in the stress tensor correlator, is an almost universal quantity for a broad class of theories including various higher-curvature holographic models, free scalars, and fermions, and Wilson-Fisher fixed points of the O(N) models with N=1,2,3.

Universal corner entanglement from twist operators

A bstractThe entanglement entropy in three-dimensional conformal field theories (CFTs) receives a logarithmic contribution characterized by a regulator-independent function a(θ) when the entangling

Aspects of Holographic Entanglement Entropy

This is an extended version of our short report [1], where a holographic interpretation of entanglement entropy in conformal field theories is proposed from AdS/CFT correspondence. In addition to a

A covariant holographic entanglement entropy proposal

With an aim towards understanding the time-dependence of entanglement entropy in generic quantum field theories, we propose a covariant generalization of the holographic entanglement entropy proposal

Towards a derivation of holographic entanglement entropy

We provide a derivation of holographic entanglement entropy for spherical entangling surfaces. Our construction relies on conformally mapping the boundary CFT to a hyperbolic geometry and observing

Holographic entanglement entropy: an overview

In this paper, we review recent progress on the holographic understanding of the entanglement entropy in the anti-de Sitter space/conformal field theory (AdS/CFT) correspondence. In general, the
