This paper presents some general ideas for the conin dielectric anisotropic waveguides. The goal is to facilitate the development of different finite schemes through the extension of &he time-domain (FDTD) method to study anisotropic media. Some of these schemes are particularized and applied to the simulation of the propagation of electromagnetic waves through planar dielectric anisotropic waveguides. the use of symbolic programs such as Mathematica.
