"the Chicago School of economics" is a recognizable and meaningful designation.2 Yet a number of people who would obviously be included in the school argue that this designation has no real content-that the Chicagoans do not constitute a school in any relevant sense and that there is no significant difference between a good Chicago economist and any other good economist.
