We study some aspects of Gauged Linear Sigma Models corresponding to orbifold singularities of the form r/Γ, for r = 2,3 and Γ = n and n × m. These orbifolds might be tachyonic in general. We compute expressions for the multi parameter sigma model Lagrangians for these orbifolds, in terms of their toric geometry data. Using this, we analyze some aspects of the phases of generic orbifolds of r.

On phases of generic toric singularities

We systematically study the phases of generic toric singularities, using methods initiated in hep-th/0612046. These correspond to large volume limits of certain Gauged Linear Sigma Models. We show

On dimer models and closed string theories

We study some aspects of the recently discovered connection between dimer models and D-brane gauge theories. We argue that dimer models are also naturally related to closed string theories on non

On nonsupersymmetric C4/ZN, tachyons, terminal singularities and flips

We investigate nonsupersymmetric $ {{{\mathbb{C}^4}} \mathord{\left/{\vphantom {{{\mathbb{C}^4}} {{\mathbb{Z}_N}}}} \right.} {{\mathbb{Z}_N}}} $ orbifold singularities using their description in

On localized tachyon condensation in C2/Zn and C3/Zn

On tachyons, gauged linear sigma models, and flip transitions

We study systems of multiple localized closed string tachyons and the phenomena associated with their condensation, in 3/N nonsupersymmetric noncompact orbifold singularities using gauged linear

On Localized Tachyon Condensation in C 2 / Z n and C 3 / Z n

We study some aspects of localized tachyon condensation on non-supersymmetric orbifolds of the form C/Zn and C /Zn. We discuss the gauged linear sigma models for these orbifolds. We show how several

D-branes on Stringy Calabi-Yau Manifolds

We argue that D-branes corresponding to rational B boundary states in a Gepner model can be understood as fractional branes in the Landau-Ginzburg orbifold phase of the linear sigma model

Closed string tachyons, flips and conifolds

Following the analysis of tachyons and orbifold flips described in hep-th/0412337, we study nonsupersymmetric analogs of the supersymmetric conifold singularity and show using their toric geometry

Mirror Symmetry and Closed String Tachyon Condensation

We study closed string tachyon condensation using the RG flow of the worldsheet theory. In many cases the worldsheet theory enjoys N=2 supersymmetry, which provides analytic control over the flow,

D-Branes And Mirror Symmetry

We study (2,2) supersymmetric field theories on two-dimensional worldsheet with boundaries. We determine D-branes (boundary conditions and boundary interactions) that preserve half of the bulk
