When the BCH code for BSC(pi) is iterated with Cj for BSC(pj), j < i, the algorithm just described assumes only that pd = pi. Usually, however, pd I pj. Improved iterations can be constructed by recomputing the decoding error probability p& from the BCH decoder for BSC(pj) for its actual input pd. Then h is sought such that ph-l< p& I ph as in the original algorithm, and decoding error probability is recomputed with p& rather than ph as input. This process is repeated until p1 is reached.
