In this work, we derive some novel properties of the bimodal normal distribution. Some of its mathematical properties are examined. We provide a formal proof for the bimodality and assess identifiability. We then discuss the maximum likelihood estimates as well as the existence of these estimates, and also some asymptotic properties of the estimator of the parameter that controls the bimodality. A bivariate version of the BN distribution is derived and some characteristics such as covariance… Expand

Bimodal normal distribution: Extensions and applications
A new family of continuous random variables with non-necessarily symmetric densities is introduced that can incorporate unimodality and bimodality features and is applied to explain the incidence of Hodgkin's disease by age. Expand
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a general class of distributions generated from the logit of the beta random variable. A special case of this family is the beta-normal distribution. The shapeExpand
On a bimodal Birnbaum–Saunders distribution with applications to lifetime data

ABSTRACT We introduce a new parsimonious bimodal distribution, referred to as the bimodal skew-symmetric Normal (BSSN) distribution, which is potentially effective in capturing bimodality, excessExpand
