We explicitly show that the new polynomial invariants for knots, upto nine crossings, agree with the Ooguri-Vafa conjecture relating Chern-Simons gauge theory to topological string theory on the resolution of the conifold. From the multi-component link invariants in SU(N) Chern-Simons theory, we suggest a form for the new polynomial invariants. Email: rama@phy.iitb.ernet.in Email: tapo@theory.tifr.res.in
