Schizomeris leibleinii Kütz was collected from Dehra Dun as well as from Varanasi and the observations on its morphology, asexual reproduction and cytology were made by using material from nature and in culture. Cultural studies have revealed some interesting features such as occasional branching of uniseriate as well as multiseriate filaments and extensive development of the holdfast lobes into uniseriate or multiseriate filaments which may sometimes be branched. The chromosome number for the…
Aspectos taxonômicos de Schizomeris Kützing (Chaetophorales, Chlorophyta)
TLDR
Findings suggest that distinction among the three species is very fragile and cannot be supported by differentiation of the basal system or metrical characteristics, and is considered that Schizomeris is composed by a single species.
Influência do nitrato e fosfato no crescimento de Schizomeris leibleinii Kützing (Chaetophorales, Chlorophyta)
TLDR
Growth curves suggested that S. leibleinii grew rapidly at low concentrations of nitrate and phosphate, but the best development occurred at high nitrate concentrations, indicating nitrogen as the limiting nutrient of growth in culture.

Observations on the Morphology, Cytology, and Asexual Reproduction of Schizomeris leibleinii
TLDR
The nature of the basal cell is believed to be a more reliable taxonomic feature than either the arrangement of cells in multiseriate filaments or the number of pyrenoids per cell.
Contributions to the Karyology of the Ulotrichales — I. Ulothrix1
TLDR
The chromosomes of Ulothrix zonata were observed to be the largest amongst the Ulotrichales investigated by the author, while those of U. subtilissima are small and dot-like and the orientation of the chromosomes during anaphase in U.Zonata suggests that they possess presumably subterminal centromeres.
SCHIZOMERIS—A GROWTH FORM OF STIGEOCLONIUM TENUE (CHLOROPHYTA:CHAETOPHORACEAE) 1
TLDR
Sampling of the plant population of the lake and culture work showed that S. tenue has a high degree of polymorphism, and other forms of it which developed both in theLake and in culture were indistinguishable from Protoderma Kütz.
The taxonomy of the Chlorophyta. II
TLDR
The taxonomy of all the algal groups possessing both chlorophyll a and b is discussed for the levels above that of the family and the author favours maintaining a large number of orders but also the rejection of those based on single characters.

The Iron Alum Acetocarmine Method for Algæ
TLDR
The chromosomes of many Algae have been found difficult to stain by the ordinary acetocarmine method, and the addition of ferric acetate or other Jferric salts to the carmine solution brings about only slight improvement, if any, as observed by Baker1.
