This work deals with finding out issues faced by designers in communicating functionality of articulated product concepts through sketching. These have been observed and analyzed by performing a design experiment. It is found that the effort involved in communicating the functionality of the concept represented in sketches is significant and concluded that it needs to be reduced. Future work is also highlighted.
