The results of a study conducted on Lucent Microelectronics fab models are presented. A comparative study of scheduling policies was undertaken for a variety of product mixes, while holding the total start rates at the same level. The scheduling policies studied are the familiar FIFO policy, and the FabSched scheduler. The improvements in the mean wait times and the standard deviations of the cycle-times are presented.
