Loop quantum cosmology (LQC), mainly due to Bojowald, is not the cosmological sector of loop quantum gravity (LQG). Rather, LQC consists of a truncation of the phase space of classical general relativity to spatially homogeneous situations which is then quantized by the methods of LQG. Thus, LQC is a quantum-mechanical toy model (finite number of degrees of freedom) for LQG (a genuine QFT with an infinite number of degrees of freedom) which provides important consistency checks. However, it is…
Loop Quantum Cosmology: A Status Report
Loop quantum cosmology (LQC) is the result of applying principles of loop quantum gravity (LQG) to cosmological settings. The distinguishing feature of LQC is the prominent role played by the quantum
On the resolution of the big bang singularity in isotropic loop quantum cosmology
In contrast to previous work in the field, we construct the loop quantum cosmology (LQC) of the flat isotropic model with a massless scalar field in the absence of higher order curvature corrections
Algebraic quantum gravity (AQG): IV. Reduced phase space quantization of loop quantum gravity
We perform a canonical, reduced phase space quantization of general relativity by loop quantum gravity (LQG) methods. The explicit construction of the reduced phase space is made possible by the
Loop Quantum Cosmology
TLDR
L loop quantum cosmology is an application of loop quantum gravity to homogeneous systems, which removes classical singularities and introduces the main effects of quantum effects into effective classical equations, which allow one to avoid the interpretational problems of quantum theory.
Loop Quantum Cosmology
Quantum gravity is expected to be necessary in order to understand situations where classical general relativity breaks down. In particular in cosmology one has to deal with initial singularities,
Degenerate Configurations, Singularities and the Non-Abelian Nature of Loop Quantum Gravity
Degenerate geometrical configurations in quantum gravity are important to understand if the fate of classical singularities is to be revealed. However, not all degenerate configurations arise on an
Weyl Curvature Hypothesis in Light of Quantum Backreaction at Cosmological Singularities or Bounces
The Weyl curvature constitutes the radiative sector of the Riemann curvature tensor and gives a measure of the anisotropy and inhomogeneities of spacetime. Penrose’s 1979 Weyl curvature hypothesis
Analysing (cosmological) singularity avoidance in loop quantum gravity using U$(1)^3$ coherent states and Kummer's functions
Using a new procedure based on Kummer’s Confluent Hypergeometric Functions, we investigate the question of singularity avoidance in loop quantum gravity (LQG) in the context of U(1) complexifier
Robustness of key features of loop quantum cosmology
A small simplification based on well-motivated approximations is shown to make loop quantum cosmology of the $k=0$ Friedman-Robertson-Walker model (with a massless scalar field) exactly soluble.
Relating loop quantum cosmology to loop quantum gravity: symmetric sectors and embeddings
In this paper we address the meaning of states in loop quantum cosmology (LQC), in the context of loop quantum gravity. First, we introduce a rigorous formulation of an embedding proposed by Bojowald

Absence of a singularity in loop quantum cosmology.
TLDR
It is shown that the cosmological singularity in isotropic minisuperspaces is naturally removed by quantum geometry and the correct semiclassical behavior is obtained.
Isotropic loop quantum cosmology
Isotropic models in loop quantum cosmology allow explicit calculations, thanks largely to a completely known volume spectrum, which is exploited in order to write down the evolution equation in a

Towards the QFT on curved spacetime limit of QGR: II. A concrete implementation

An invitation to loop quantum gravity
We describe the basic assumptions and key results of loop quantum gravity, which is a background independent approach to quantum gravity. The emphasis is on the basic physical principles and how one
Simplification of the spectral analysis of the volume operator in loop quantum gravity
The volume operator plays a crucial role in the definition of the quantum dynamics of loop quantum gravity (LQG). Efficient calculations for dynamical problems of LQG can therefore be performed only
