We evaluated oleanolic acid (OA)-induced anti-cancer activity, apoptotic mechanism, cell cycle status, and MAPK kinase signaling in DU145 (prostate cancer), MCF-7 (breast cancer), U87 (human glioblastoma), normal murine liver cell (BNL CL.2) and human foreskin fibroblast cell lines (Hs 68). The IC50 values for OAinduced cytotoxicity were 112.57 in DU145, 132.29 in MCF-7, and 163.60 in U87 cells, respectively. OA did not exhibit toxicity in BNL CL. 2 and Hs 68 cell lines in our experiments. OA…

Inhibitory Effects of Ginsenoside Ro on the Growth of B16F10 Melanoma via Its Metabolites
TLDR
Ro markedly suppresses the tumour growth of B16F10-transplanted tumours in vivo, and its anti-tumour effects are based on the biological activity of its metabolites, which suggest that the metabolites play important roles in the anti-Tumour efficacy of Ro in vivo.

Expression of the G2-M checkpoint regulators cyclin B1 and cdc2 in nonmalignant and malignant human breast lesions: immunocytochemical and quantitative image analyses.
TLDR
Proliferative index data for atypical hyperplasia were virtually identical to those for benign lesions and were significantly lower than those for breast cancer, suggesting that expression levels of cyclin B1 and Cdc2 may be used to distinguish premalignant human breast lesions from advanced disease.
An Antioxidant Extract of Tropical Lichen,Parmotrema reticulatum, Induces Cell Cycle Arrest and Apoptosis in Breast Carcinoma Cell Line MCF-7
TLDR
It can be hypothesised from the current study that the antioxidant and anticancer potential of the PRME may reside in the phytoconstitutents present in it and therefore,PRME may be used as a possible source of natural antioxidant that may be developed to an anticancer agent.
Hederagenin Supplementation Alleviates the Pro-Inflammatory and Apoptotic Response to Alcohol in Rats
TLDR
Hederagenin alleviated ethanol-induced liver damage through anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic activities and is a potential candidate for preventing alcoholic liver injury.
Resveratrol induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis with docetaxel in prostate cancer cells via a p53/ p21WAF1/CIP1 and p27KIP1 pathway
TLDR
It is demonstrated that combination treatment blocks the cell cycle arrest by modulation of key regulators and promotes apoptosis via p53 dependent and independent mechanism in PCa.
Oleanolic acid induces autophagic death in human gastric cancer cells in vitro and in vivo
TLDR
In this study, it is found that OA induced autophagic cell death in multiple human gastric cancer cell lines and OA‐induced autophagy was shown for the first time in human Gastric cancer cells, evidenced by the formation of GFP‐RFP‐LC3 puncta and autophagosomes.
Isocryptotanshinone Induced Apoptosis and Activated MAPK Signaling in Human Breast Cancer MCF-7 Cells
TLDR
It is reported that Isocryptotanshinone has anticancer activity and the mechanism underlying this effect is described and the results suggest that ICTS inhibited MCF-7 cell proliferation by inducing apoptosis and activating MAPK signaling pathways.
Oleanolic acid induces mitochondrial-dependent apoptosis and G0/G1 phase arrest in gallbladder cancer cells
TLDR
The results suggest that OA inhibits proliferation of gallbladder cancer cells by regulating apoptosis and the cell cycle process, and may be a promising drug for adjuvant chemotherapy ingallbladder carcinoma.
Oleanolic acid suppresses the proliferation of human bladder cancer by Akt/mTOR/S6K and ERK1/2 signaling.
TLDR
Findings represent new evidences that oleanolic acid suppresses the proliferation of human bladder cancer by Akt/mTOR/S6K and ERK1/2 signaling-targeting anti-tumor agent, and o Leanolic acid may be used to prevent human bladder cancers.
Abieslactone Induces Cell Cycle Arrest and Apoptosis in Human Hepatocellular Carcinomas through the Mitochondrial Pathway and the Generation of Reactive Oxygen Species
TLDR
It is suggested that abieslactone induced G1 cell cycle arrest and caspase-dependent apoptosis via the mitochondrial pathway and the ROS/Akt pathway in HepG2 cells.
Beta-naphthoflavone (DB06732) mediates estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer cell cycle arrest through AhR-dependent regulation of PI3K/AKT and MAPK/ERK signaling.
TLDR
AhR-dependent inhibition of the PI3K/AKT pathway, activation of MAPK/ERK and modulation of ERα is a novel mechanism underlying BNF-mediated antitumor effects in breast cancer, which may represent a promising strategy to be exploited in future clinical trials.
