The opening paragraph «paralisi e rimedio» basic indicates the basic perspective. A well known experience is analysed: almost always a translation makes only some people happy. This is unavoidable; no translation can reproduce all the aspects of the original; any translation can reproduce properly only some of them, more or less neglecting the other. But the problem is not an hopeless one; of any translation we must and can establish both its characteristics and its weaknesses; and if a translation must be adopted to meet various needs, its weaknesses should be remedied. The most effective remedy is the indication of some other translations... Here lies the peculiar contribution of the article. The A. imagines a Bible society (BS) which plans a conscious and systematic adoption of short foot-noted references. Thus the BS suggests: the most relevant passages of a Bible translation should have a mini-foot-note of the type « Other:...» which quotes at least one other translation, both different and complementary; if the first translation reflects a very one-sided perspective (mostly for the type of equivalence - formal or literal vs semantic or idiomatic, literary vs common language... - or for the confessional bias - Orthodox, or Protestant, or Catholic,...) then a mini-foot-note can reestablish the balance in a very short and effective way. The A. indicates how to apply the procedure, answers some remarks and clearly lists several advantages: systematically adopted, the mini-footnotes make both the readers and the translators more free (because now they are less forced to find the most suitable translation), more relaxed (because now they are less engaged in polemic attitudes) more active in a concrete cooperation (because now they look for contributions from the other translations)...
