Pest categorisation of Phenacoccus solenopsis

P. solenopsis could enter the EU with imported fresh fruit, vegetables and cut flowers, although the main pathway of introduction is likely to be plants for planting, and host availability and climate suitability indicate that most of the EU would be suitable for establishment.

Exploiting natural variation for accelerating discoveries in plant specialized metabolism

Key discoveries that were catalyzed by taking advantage of naturally occurring variation are highlighted, and technologies and resources employed by this approach are commented on, in hopes of providing phytochemists an archetype for harnessing the power of natural variation to accelerate discoveries in plant specialized metabolism.
