—Few studies have been conducted on the food habits of the ocelot (Leopardus pardalis), considered an endangered feline in Mexico. Past studies showed that rodents were the main component of ocelot diet. In our study ocelot prey consumption was measured as frequency of occurrence of prey in scats and then converted to biomass. The spiny-tailed iguana (Ctenosaura pectinata) was the most important prey of ocelots, followed by the spiny pocket mouse (Liomys pictus). Other rodents and some birds…

Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) potential predation on a gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus)

Gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) are commonly killed by other carnivores which can cause local population reductions. In tropical forests, the potential predators of gray fox are mostly large and

Feeding ecology of carnivores (Mammalia, Carnivora) in Atlantic Forest remnants, Southern Brazil

TLDR
The diet of some sympatric carnivore species in three Atlantic Forest remnants of Southern Brazil was studied in order to assess their food niche, and puma yagouaroundi had the largest dietary niche breadth, whereas Leopardus tigrinus and Nasua nasua showed the lowest values.

Spatial organization and activity patterns of ocelots (Leopardus pardalis) in a protected subtropical forest of Brazil

We estimated home range size and overlap and activity patterns of ocelots in a protected subtropical forest, the Iguaçu National Park (INP), in southwestern Brazil using a long-term dataset from 1990

Ocelot density and habitat use in Tamaulipan thornshrub and tropical deciduous forests in Northeastern México

Northeastern México is one of the most diverse regions in the country with high mammal richness. This region also sits on the northern periphery of the geographic distribution of ocelots (Leopardus

Densities, habitat-use, and mesopredator release of the ocelot in Belize

To manage and protect an intact neotropical carnivore guild it is necessary to understand the relative importance of habitat selection and of intraguild competition to the ecology of individual

Diet of the Brown Skua (Stercorarius antarcticus lonnbergi) at Hope Bay, Antarctic Peninsula: differences between breeders and non-breeders

TLDR
The diet of breeding and non-breeding Brown Skuas at Hope Bay, Antarctic Peninsula is determined to understand prey selection and the feeding habits of groups with different physiological and energy demands, highlighting differences in the feeding habit and prey selection.

The Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) in Northern Texas, with Comments on Its Northern Biogeography

ABSTRACT. A road-killed specimen of a large male ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) was salvaged on March 2010 from Palo Pinto County in north central Texas. Our review of the northern biogeography of the

Many species of the Carnivora consume grass and other fibrous plant tissues

TLDR
Deliberate ingestion of FPT may be more widespread and important than previously realized in the Carnivora, suggesting these abrasive or hairy plant tissues help to expel intestinal parasites.

Diet of the south polar skua Catharacta maccormicki and the brown skua C. antarctica lonnbergi at Cierva Point, Antarctic Peninsula

TLDR
In agreement with other studies on the diet of these skua species in situations of sympatry, SPS consumed more fish and BS consumed more birds, and trophic niche breadth of BS was wider than that of SPS.
