The life-cycle of the nematode Rhabdochona phoxini, an intestinal parasite of the fish Phoxinus phoxinus, has been studied experimentally. The mayfly nymphs, Habrophlebia lauta Eaton and H. fusca (Curtis) were found to serve as experimental intermediate hosts. After the eggs of R. phoxini have been swallowed by the mayfly nymph, the toothed first-stage larvae of this parasite are released and penetrate through the intestinal wall into t-e body cavity of the mayfly. Before reaching the infective… Expand

TLDR
Two species of mayfly nymphs, Habroleptoides modesta (Hagen) and Habrophlebia lauta (Eaton) (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae), were found as suitable experimental intermediate hosts of the fish nematode Rhabdochona denudata, an intestinal parasite of Palaearctic cyprinids. Expand

In 1993, samples of benthic invertebrates were examined for the presence of helminth parasites as a part of ecology studies of the endoparasitic helminths of barbel, Barbus barbus (L.), carried outExpand
Relationship between intermediate host taxon and infection by nematodes of the genus Rhabdochona.
TLDR
It was found that the principal intermediate hosts of the two nematodes were filter-feeding mayflies of the genera Ephemera, Photamanthus and Isonychia, which seemed to be the most important intermediate host of these nematode. Expand
Some aspects of the taxonomy, biology, possible evolution and biogeography of nematodes of the spirurine genus Rhabdochona Railliet, 1916 (Rhabdochonidae, Thelazioidea)
At present the nematode genus Rhabdochona Railliet, 1916 (Rhabdochonidae) comprises 92 possibly valid species, mostly intestinal parasites of freshwater fishes in all zoogeographical regions. BecauseExpand
Redescription of Rhabdochona papuanensis (Nematoda: Thelazioidea), a parasite of rainbow fishes (Melanotaenia spp.); the first record of the species of Rhabdochona in Australia
TLDR
Fully developed, filamented eggs of R. papuanensis and the conspecific fourth-stage larva are described for the first time and represents new host and geographical records. Expand
Life history of the nematode Rhabdochona hellichi, a parasite of the barbel in the Jihlava River, Czech Republic.
TLDR
From April 1992 until June 1993, the seasonal dynamics of Rhabdochona hellichi in its definitive host, the barbel, was studied in the Jihlava River, Czech Republic. Expand

TLDR
The chapter focuses on the schemes of classification adopted and reports the seasonal studies of the cestode, nematode, and acanthocephalan adults of various species, related to the major climatic zones of the world. Expand
New data on the morphology and taxonomy of three species of Rhabdochona (Nematoda:Rhabdochonidae) parasitizing fishes in India.
TLDR
Specimens of three little-known species of Rhabdochona were collected during occasional examinations of some freshwater fishes in India and revealed some taxonomically important, previously not observed features and made possible their redescription. Expand
Ascarophis sp. (Nematoda: Spirurida) attaining sexual maturity inGammarus spp. (Crustacea)
TLDR
Adult as well as larval stages are described and the infection dynamics is analysed and the results suggest a direct transmission of embryonated eggs to new amphipods, although this remains to be verified experimentally. Expand
Phylogeny and biogeography of Rhabdochona Railliet, 1916 (Nematoda: Rhabdochonidae) species from the Americas
A phylogenetic analysis of 40 species of Rhabdochona Railliet, 1916, including all 21 valid species in the Americas, resulted in 1733 equally most parsimonious trees and indicates that Rhabdochona isExpand
