Observations on the peristome and systematic position of Tetrastichium fontanum (Musci)

The peristome of the monotypic hookeriaceous genus Tetrastichium is described from a specimen of T. fontanum from La Palma (Canary Is.) and is similar to that of two other members of the family, Rhynchostegiopsis and Leucomium.
