We analyze the time series of oxygen line profiles (Ovi 1031.93 Å and Ovi 1037.61 Å) obtained from SUMER/SOHO on the solar south limb. We calculated Doppler shifts and consequently Doppler velocities in three heights 4″, 14″, and 24″ from the limb on a coronal hole region. Then, we performed wavelet analysis with Morlet wavelet transform to determine the periods of fundamental mode and its first harmonic mode. The calculated period ratios have departures from its canonical value of 2. The…

Torsional Alfvén waves and the period ratio P1/P2 in spicules

The effects of both density stratification and magnetic field expansion on torsional Alfvén waves in solar spicules are studied. Also, their eigenfrequencies, eigenfunctions, and the period ratio

The period ratio P1/P2$P_{1}/P_{2}$ of torsional Alfvén waves with steady flows in spicules

The aim here is to model the standing torsional oscillations in solar spicules in the presence of density stratification, magnetic field expansion, and steady flows. By implementing cylindrical

Dynamic wave-modes in solar chromospheric structures

Sun’s outer atmosphere is a million degree hotter than it’s visible surface, which is not understood with any of the known laws of thermodynamics and remains an intriguing problem for the

Torsional waves with force-free magnetic fields in solar plasma structures

The aim here is to model torsional waves in homogeneous and expanding twisted flux tubes of solar coronal magnetic plasma structures. For the sake of simplicity, a force-free condition applicable

Observation of standing kink waves in solar spicules

We analyze the time series of Ca ii H-line obtained from Hinode/SOT on the solar limb. The time-distance analysis shows that the axis of spicule undergos quasi-periodic transverse displacement at

Observation of kink waves in solar spicules

Height series of Doppler observation in $H_{\alpha}$ and $D_3$ spectral lines of solar spicules obtained by big coronagraph (53 cm) of Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory have been analyzed. Time

The effect of the environment on the P1/P2 period ratio for kink oscillations of coronal loops

Aims. The P1/P2 period ratio of transversal loop oscillations is currently used for the diagnostics of longitudinal structuring of coronal loops as its deviation from 2 is intrinsically connected to

Doppler-shift oscillations in solar spicules

Aims. We analysed the consecutive height series of Hα spectra in solar limb spicules taken on the 53 cm coronagraph of Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory at the heights of 3800−8700 km above the

A sequence of TRACE 171 Å observations taken on 2001 May 13 shows evidence of flare-induced, transverse coronal loop oscillations. We revisit this particular data set and present evidence of the
