BackgroundDistortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs) and transient-evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAEs) are sound waves generated as byproducts of the cochlear amplifier. These are measurable in the auditory canal and represent an objective method for diagnosing functional disorders of the inner ear.
