We provide a complete characterization of the astrophysical properties of the sigma Ori Aa, Ab, B hierarchical triple system and an improved set of orbital parameters for the highly eccentric sigma Ori Aa, Ab spectroscopic binary. We compiled a spectroscopic data set comprising 90 high-resolution spectra covering a total time span of 1963 days. We applied the Lehman-Filhes method for a detailed orbital analysis of the radial velocity curves and performed a combined quantitative spectroscopic…
Orbits, Distance, and Stellar Masses of the Massive Triple Star Sigma Orionis
We present interferometric observations of the sigma Orionis triple system using the CHARA Array, NPOI, and VLTI. Using these measurements, we spatially resolve the orbit of the close spectroscopic
Spectroscopic study of the extremely young O-type triple system Herschel 36 A in the Hourglass nebula – I. Orbital properties
We present a detailed spectroscopic study of Herschel 36 A (H36A), the main stellar component of the massive multiple system Herschel 36 in the Hourglass Nebula, based on high-resolution optical
Stars and brown dwarfs in the σ Orionis cluster
Context. Only a few open clusters are as important for the study of stellar and substellar objects, and their formation and evolution, as the young σ Orionis cluster. However, a complete
GU Monocerotis: A high-mass eclipsing overcontact binary in the young open cluster Dolidze 25 ?
Context. The eclipsing binary GU Mon is located in the star-forming cluster Dolidze 25, which has the lowest metallicity measured in a Milky Way young cluster. Aims. GU Mon has been identified as a
Non-synchronous rotations in massive binary systems
Context. Most massive stars are in binary or multiple systems. Several massive stars have been detected as double-lined spectroscopic binaries and among these, the OWN Survey has detected a
MONOS: Multiplicity Of Northern O-type Spectroscopic systems
Context. Multiplicity in massive stars is key to understanding the chemical and dynamical evolution of galaxies. Among massive stars, those of O type play a crucial role due to their high masses and
Gaia DR2 distances to Collinder 419 and NGC 2264 and new astrometric orbits for HD 193 322 Aa,Ab and 15 Mon Aa,Ab
Context. On the one hand, the second data release of the Gaia mission (Gaia DR2) has opened a trove of astrometric and photometric data for Galactic clusters within a few kiloparsecs of the Sun. On
Optical and Near-infrared Spectra of σ Orionis Isolated Planetary-mass Objects
We have obtained low-resolution optical (0.7-0.98 micron) and near-infrared (1.11-1.34 micron and 0.8-2.5 micron) spectra of twelve isolated planetary-mass candidates (J = 18.2-19.9 mag) of the 3-Myr
The MiMeS survey of Magnetism in Massive Stars : magnetic analysis of the O-type stars
We present the analysis performed on spectropolarimetric data of 97 O-type targets included in the framework of the Magnetism in Massive Stars (MiMeS) Survey. Mean least-squares deconvolved Stokes I
Atmospheric NLTE models for the spectroscopic analysis of blue stars with winds
Context. Obtaining precise stellar and wind properties and abundance patterns of massive stars is crucial to understanding their nature and interactions with their environments, as well as to

Dynamical parallax of σ Ori AB: mass, distance and age
The massive OB-type binary σ Ori AB is in the centre of the very young σ Orionis cluster. I have computed the most probable distances and masses of the binary for several ages using a dynamical
A Third Massive Star Component in the σ Orionis AB System
We report on the detection of a third massive star component in the {sigma} Orionis AB system, traditionally considered as a binary system. The system has been monitored by the IACOB Spectroscopic
Chemical abundances of late-type pre-main sequence stars in the σ Orionis cluster
Context. The young σ Orionis cluster is an important location for studying the formation and evolution of stars, brown dwarfs, and planetary-mass objects. Its metallicity, although it is a
FLAMES spectroscopy of low-mass stars in the young clusters σ Ori and λ Ori ,
Aims. We performed a detailed membership selection and studied the accretion properties of low-mass stars in the two apparently very similar young (1–10 Myr) clusters σ Ori and λ Ori. Methods. We
The chemical composition of the Orion star forming region - I. Homogeneity of O and Si abundances in B-type stars
Context. Recent accurate abundance analyses of B-type main sequence stars in the solar vicinity has shown that abundances derived from these stellar objects are more homogeneous and metal-rich than
XMM-Newton observations of the σ Ori cluster - I. The complex RGS spectrum of the hot star σ Ori AB
We present XMM-Newton observations of the young (∼2−5 Myr) cluster around the hot (O9.5V) star σ Orionis AB, aimed at obtaining a high resolution RGS spectrum of the hot star as well as EPIC imaging
Photometric Identification of the Low-Mass Population of Orion OB1b. I. The σ Orionis Cluster
We report an optical photometric survey of 0.89 deg2 of the Orion OB1b association centered on σ Ori. This region includes most of the σ Ori cluster, the highest-density region within Orion OB1b. We
σ ORIONIS IRS1 A AND B: A BINARY CONTAINING A PROPLYD
We report optical and infrared imaging spectroscopy observations of the young binary object σ Orionis IRS1 A/B. The brighter component (σ Ori IRS1 A) of this binary system has M1 spectral type and a
A Search for Very Low Mass Stars and Brown Dwarfs in the Young σ Orionis Cluster
We present a CCD-based photometric survey covering 870 arcmin2 in a young stellar cluster around the young multiple star σ Orionis. Our survey-limiting R, I, and Z magnitudes are 23.2, 21.8, and
High-Resolution Chandra X-Ray Imaging and Spectroscopy of the σ Orionis Cluster
