Background Overexpression of type I IFN-stimulated genes has been demonstrated in both SLE and SS, and induction of IFNα production in plasmacytoid dendritic cells by immune complexes containing RNA and autoantibodies, including Ro/SSA and La/SSB autoantibodies, has also been shown.
