The long-term objective of our research is to develop the instrumental approach for teachers. A first step, presented in this paper, is to observe stable behaviours of teachers using internet resources in mathematics. We retain the scenarios as indicators of the genesis processes. We propose a scenario taxonomy taken from categories elaborated by computer sciences specialists and complemented to take into account didactical aspects. The descriptions provided by teachers permitted to observe an…

Online Resources in Mathematics, Teachers’ Geneses and Didactical Techniques
The study concerns the consequences of integrating online resources into the teaching of mathematics, and proposes a theoretical approach to study the associated phenomena, combining instrumental and anthropological perspectives.
Teaching Resources and teachers professional development: toward a documentational approach of didactics
We propose in this paper a theoretical approach of teachers' professional development, focusing on teachers' interactions with resources, digital resources in particular. Documents, entailing
Integrating Technology into Mathematics Education: Theoretical Perspectives
The central question at stake in this chapter is: What theoretical frames are used in technology-related research in the domain of mathematics education and what do these theoretical perspectives
The teacher and the tool: instrumental orchestrations in the technology-rich mathematics classroom
The availability of technology in the mathematics classroom challenges the way teachers orchestrate student learning. Using the theory of instrumental orchestration as the main interpretative
Mathematics curriculum material and teacher documen tation: from textbooks to shared living resources
Section 1: Teacher resources The first section of the book focuses on the kinds and nature of resources for mathematics teachers from a practical, methodological and theoretical point of view. It
Collective documentary activity as a mode of teachers’ training: which methodological assistants ?
The work presented here focuses on the general theme of teacher training dedicated to ICT integration. We consider like Ruthven (2008) that questioning ICT integration requires to take into account
Towards a Naturalistic Conceptualisation of Technology Integration in Classroom Practice: the example of school mathematics
Understanding the challenges of incorporating new technologies into classroom practice calls for the development of naturalistic perspectives that situate their adoption and use within the everyday
Towards new documentation systems for mathematics teachers?
We study in this article mathematics teachers’ documentation work: looking for resources, selecting/designing mathematical tasks, planning their succession, managing available artifacts, etc. We
Teachers Transforming Resources into Orchestrations
Nowadays, mathematics teachers are confronted with a myriad of resources that are available through technological means and through the internet in particular. However, teachers may perceive
The results suggest that the instrumental orchestration model is fruitful for analysing teacher behaviour, particularly in combination with additional theoretical perspectives.

Saxe’s four parameter model of goal-linked practice is employed to show how different dimensions of teachers’ activities interrelate in this complex undertaking.
Problem-solving and Web resources at tertiary level
We organised two experimental teaching designs involving web resources in two different French universities. In this paper, we describe these experiments and analyse the students' behaviours. Our aim
Modeling units of study from a pedagogical perspective: the pedagogical meta-model behind EML
This text is a short summary of the work on pedagogical analysis carried out when EML (Educational Modelling Language) was being developed and will use UML diagrams to express static and dynamic relationships when appropriate.

The introduction of the idea of instrumental orchestration as a way of allowing the teacher to assist the student’s instrumental genesis is introduced.
A Taxonomy for Scenario-Based Engineering
The aim of this paper is to define the foundations of a new engineering approach based on scenarios, with a conceptual framework, a precise vocabulary and a taxonomy of scenarios, and it focuses on relationships between activities and resources.
